About MOMS Connected

MOMS Connected was formed in 2004 by Tonya Moore and Cheri Tillman, both adoptive mothers of minority siblings.  Introduced by a shared social worker, we and our husbands and families first met on the day we each finalized the adoption of our children.  The Moores and their children are African American, the Tillmans are Caucasian with both Asian and African American children.

Several things have become clear to us over the past few years:

Cheri & Tonya

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. - Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

There is no central place for Caucasian parents of African American children to get the information they need in order to care for their children’s physical and emotional needs and no forum for open communication between the races in support of adoptive families.

There is no central place to obtain products needed by adoptive and foster of parents of African American children

Adoption of children from the foster care system needs to be less complex and information regarding the adoption of African American children needs to be more readily available.
